Top seeds on track for All Jamaica Senior and Masters Badminton Championships!

Top seeds, Henry and Myles, remained on track for Senior and Masters titles respectively, at the end of play today, in the All Jamaica 2015 Championships.

In the Men’s Singles, Henry secured his spot in the semi-finals with a 2 set win over Sean Wilson, 21-9, 22-20. Number 4 seed, Che Beckford, will have a tough challenge against top seeded Henry, tomorrow. The other semi-final will be contested between Samuel Ricketts and Shane Wilson. Ricketts secured his spot in the semi-finals in one of the most exciting matches of the evening, when he upset number four seed and top junior boy, Matthew Lee, in a thrilling straight set nail-biter, 22-20, 21-17. His semi-final opponent for tomorrow, Shane Wilson, defeated past national champion, Bradley Graham in 2 sets, 21-13, 21-17.

In the Women’s singles quarter-finals, number one seed Katherine Wynter, defeated Iesha Gordon, 21-6, 21-12, and will face off against top junior girl, Esther Reynolds. In the other semi-final of the Women’s Singles, junior, Alana Bailey will take on number two seed, Ruth Williams.

In the Men’s Doubles, Ladies Doubles and Mixed Doubles, all the seeds have progressed to the semifinals, with Henry set to defend his titles in both the Men’s and Mixed Doubles.

In the over 40 Masters’ Division, Albert Myles, will compete in the semifinals of the Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles. 2014 Men’s Singles runner-up, James Cao, will attempt to derail Myles’ attempt for a triple title. In the Men’s Doubles events, Cao and partner,Jones, will challenge Myles and his partner, Kirk Palmer. Cao, the number two seed in the Men’s Singles will face number four seed, Joseph Clarke, while top-seeded Myles will face number 3 seed,  Christopher Edwards.

The competition continues tomorrow beginning at 9 am at the Constant Spring Golf Club, Racquets complex. The finals will begin at 4:30 pm in the afternoon with the Master’s events, followed by the Senior Events and Presentation, at 5:30 pm.
